The sky looks blue due to atmosphere (air)around earth which reflects the light given by sun and space has no atmosphere and therefore,no reflection of light is done and it looks black.

hope it helps

The atmosphere when observed from earth consist of various particles. These are small and so they are most effective in scattering lights of short wavelengths. We perceive  these lights that is violet, indigo and blue as blue color. But in space due to  absence of particles  there is no scattering and thus we perceive it as black.
