Answer:

For a given two surface, sliding friction is slightly lesser than that of the static friction because it is easy to move the object which already in motion than the object which is at rest.

Explanation:

if you want try to push a box in motion and push a box in rest which one is tough?

obviously moving the box from rest is tougher than moving the object while it is in motion

Answer:

Sliding friction is less than static friction because when a body is in motion on a surface at that time sliding friction is acting on it and as the object is in motion it has less friction acting on it.

On the other hand static friction acts on objects at rest and depends on the weight of the object. So as the object is still it has greater friction with the surface and hence it is greater than sliding friction.

Example:- when you start pushing a big table it requires more force to be pushed but when it is already in motion it requires less force this gives us the idea about how sliding and static friction act on an object.
