Adding an acid to water decreases the extent to which water dissociates and leads to decrease in the concentration of hydroxide ions and increase in concentration of hydronium ions. So it leads to neutralisation and ionisation reactions.

Acids are poured in water to prevent excess of heat. And small amount of acids will slowly effect than just pouring huge quantities.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE POUR WATER INTO ACID :-

And we cannot pour water into the acids. Even tough the first thing that comes to mind when teacher says “diluting the acids” is to do this. But let me remind you that if at all the water is poured into acid it creates a sort of heat in the vessel which may be extremely harmful to your body or surrounding.
