Why small intestine is smaller than large intestine

Because in small intestine the action of food passing only takes place whereas in large intestine the excreation of food takes place

Small intestine is longer than large intestine as most of the absorption of food and digestion of food occur in small intestine while in large intestine some water and salts are absorbes
