why SO2+O2 gives SO3 ( three atoms of oxygen) when we have total 4 oxygen on reactants side? please answer my question

while so2 reacts with o2 and forms o2 in this reaction oxygen gas is escaped into atmoshphere that is why we get only 3 atoms of oxygen
