why soaps cannot be used in acidic medium

Soaps are potassium or sodium salt of long chain carboxylic acid. When soaps react with Acidic water, precipitation occur due to the decomposition of soaps.

HEYA..!!

soaps are basic in nature. hence if they are used in acidic solution, they will react in the solution and form a salt. thus, micelles will not form.
