Oxidation is loss of electrons

Reduction is gain of electrons.

Na valency is +1 means it has 1 electron less.

Cl valency is -1 it has 1 electron more than the no of protons.

Na gains an electron from Cl. So it is reducing agent.

Cl loses 1 electron for Na. So its oxidising agent.
