Because of Sodium and Potassium

are highly reactive. To keep it open

place caught fire easily so it is kept

in kerosene oil.

Sodium and potassium are kept in kerosene oil bcoz kerosene does contain any water and it protect the metals from exposed to any moisture as they react with air or moisture
