Sodium & Potassium are stored in kerosene for the following reasons;-
1. Sodium & Potassium reacts with water vigorously. Sodium is stored in kerosene because it does not contain any water. So there is a lesser chance that Sodium will react vigorously with water when kept under the environment of kerosene oil.
2. Sodium & potassium also reacts with oxygen/air vigorously. Sodium is stored in kerosene because it does allow air/oxygen to enter its environment. So there is a lesser chance that Sodium will react vigorously with air/oxygen when kept under the environment of kerosene oil.
