NaCl is an electrovalent compound because the sodium and chlorine atoms give one electron from their outermost shells to each other in order to complete their octets..

nigitive ions sometime called anion.sodium ions and chloride ions are held together by the strong electrostatic attraction between the positive and negative charge..This explain that sodium chloride is an electrovalent compound......
