sodium used in lassaigne's test- because of electropostive nature and in order to convert covalent form to ionic form it is quite reactive . Lassaigne's test is a test for the detection of halogens, nitrogen and sulphur in an organic compound. These elements are covalently bonded to the organic compounds.
