The reduction in the force of attraction between the nucleus and the valance electrons by the electrons present in the inner subshells is called shielding effect.

As you move from top to bottom in a group number of electronic shells increase so the number of electrons in the inner shells also increases. As a result shielding effct increases.

Therefore Na will have higher shielding effect than Li as it comes after Li in the group.
