Explanation:

Sodium is a very reactive metal. It is kept in kerosene to prevent it from coming in contact with oxygen and moisture. If this happens, it will react with the moisture present in air and form sodium hydroxide. This is a strongly exothermic reaction, and lot of heat is generated.

sodium is kept under kerosene to prevent its reaction with oxygen ,moisture and carbon dioxide. So to avoid it's contact with moisture it is stored under kerosene. As sodium is reactive metal, it catches fire by reacting with oxygen present in air and water. ... ... But it does not react with kerosene.

Sodium is stored in kerosene because it is very reactive and it shows the exothermic reaction and reacts vigorously. Therefore,it is stored in kerosene.
