Why sodium is used to dry benzene but not to dry ethenol?

No, we cannot use sodium to dry alcohol because sodium reacts with alcohol to form a salt. It can displace hydrogen ions from alcohol but it cannot dehydrate them. an acid is used to dehydrate alcohol.
