this happens because trees bind the soil well and keep them fertileso there is less soil erosion in forest but in Barren land there no trees so soil erosion is high

soil erosion is less in dense forests as compared to open field because
in dense forests there will be more trees and the intensity of flow of water is less.and if the soil erodes also it will be settled down near trees or somewhere
but,in open fields as the trees are less.there will be more soil erosion...
