Dry Ice is the common name for solid carbon dioxide (CO2). It gets this name because it does not melt into a liquid when heated; instead, it changes directly into a gas (a process known as sublimation).

Solid carbon dioxide is known as dry ice because it looks like ice and does not met on heating. When we heat solid carbon dioxide, it directly gets converted to vapour without passing through the liquid state.
