why solid CO2 is called dry ice

abcklm: please answer.... even i need help in this question

schandrakar: it is called so because it looks like ice but doesn't wet the surface in which it is kept

dry ice is nothing but solid co2 , Because it looks like ice and because when it “melts” (it actually sublimes) it goes from solid straight to gas, no liquid, hence dry ice
