Solid CO2 is also known as dry ice because it directly sublimates into gas from solid form. It is as cold as normal ice but doesnt change into liquid state unlike water.

Answer:

Solid Carbon dioxide is called dry ice because it resembles ice, but carbon dioxide does not exist in liquid form, it sublimes straight from a solid to a gas.
