Then according to the Kinetic energy theory (Which there is no need to know), the vibrations or kinetic energy of the gas atom/molecule is more than that of the solid. So the intermolecular space is more and the space can be reduced by applying pressure.

A solid is not compressible but gas is because the molecules of solids are very tightly packed and there is no space between the molecules of liquids are very loosely packed and they are free to move.
