why solid NaCl does not allow electricity to pass through it???

Bcoz NaCl in solid state doesn't have any ions or holes which can make the charges to flow. But in NaCl in aqueous medium gives Na2+ and Cl- charges and hence conduct electricity in aqueous state and not in solid state.
