HEY THERE______ ____________________________________gaps are left at railway tracks do that there is enough space and margin for the tracks to expand the contract due to temperature change.
why this gap is important?
if there is not that gap the tracks may have enough and immense stress in them while expanding due to heat.
as u know when a substance is heated, its molecule's kinetic energy increases.
HOPE IT HELPS

Hii friend,
Railway tracks have space between them, so that, the train runs safely. When the temperature increases, the metal expands. In heat, all the metals tend to expand. So, they have spaces between them. If the space was not there, stress builds up and later, it gets damaged. These come back to their original form in winters.
