a) Some living organisms have to perform anaerobic respiration when they are out of oxygen or enough oxygen does not reach their body cells.

b) Example...when we are running a race, we will be energetic and fast in the beginning but towards the end all the oxygen in our body will be used up to produce energy ( in the form of ATP molecules) then how will the energy be produced? By anaerobic respiration. This is why we feel tired after the race because pyruvate acid is now present in the body cells (see the answer of the question c) which can be removed by the entry of oxygen again in the body. Some microorganisms like bacteria and protozoans respire anaerobically only.

c) The first step in both anaerobic and aerobic respiration is- Glycolysis.

In this, one glucose molecule will be broken down into pyruvate acid, and two ATP of energy.

The second step is called-Fermentation.

Here the pyruvate acid is broken down into either ethanol or lactic acid. But no ATP is produced as all the ATP is produced during glycolysis.

Hope this helps!! PLZZZZZZ mark as brainliest! :)))

(a) Some living organisms have to perform anaerobic respiration because they may not have enough oxygen. Anaerobic respiration is process of breaking down glucose without oxygen.

(b) The example of such organism are some species of bacteria and archaea. The archaea named methanogens reduces the carbondioxide to methane and oxidize the NADH.

(c) The two basic steps of anerobic respiration are

  • Conversion of glucose in to lactic acid and ATP in case of animal.
  • Coversion of glucose in to alcohol , carbon dioxide and ATP in plant. This reaction occurs in side the cell cytoplasm.
