The height of a plant is dependent on it's genetics.
- Every character in a plant, including its height is determined by the genes present in its DNA. The kind of pair of alleles of these genes is very important.
- A dominant allele which acts on the growth of the plant increases the action of the growth hormone, thus increasing it's height.
- If the plant has a recessive allele for growth, the action of growth hormone is low and hence the plant is short in height.
