Why some states of India are called 'The Land Of The Seven Sisters' ?

Some of the Indian states are called "The land of the seven sisters" bcoz they're are segregated and are connected only through the state sikkim which is also known as the ' "Chicken neck of India " these all the eastern states are seven in number after sikkim and rich of rainfall their culture is different. So they're known as the seven sisters of India.

That's the reason that the region is reffered to as the land of seven sisters it is a well known fact that the states of arunachal Pradesh,Assam,meghalaya,Manipur,nagaland and tripira named the seven sisters in 1972.
