why sound cannot travel through vacuum (or through outer space)

It needs a medium for its propogation... becz sounds exists due to motion of particle..

only sound can travel through medium


It can travel in

liquids

solids and

gases .

Sound travels faster in solids , medium in liquids and slow in gases.
