Why sound travels faster in denser mediums?

It Is Due to ....Particles in Denser medium are Closely attached .....It causes easily Transfer of sound waves and travels faster in denser medium.

Sound is not electromagnetic wave, it is a mechanical wave. It needs some medium to propagate. Lesser the space, greater the density, speeder the wave and it is travels by compression and rarefaction of the medium. Its velocity in an elastic medium is proportional to the square root of Tension in the medium. A higher density leads to more elasticity in the medium and hence the ease by which compression and rarefaction can take place.
