why sounds travel faster in wood

....................sound passes more quicklythrough the wood, which is less dense. ... Since sound is more easily transmitted between close molecules, it travels faster in the denser substance. 
and also Sound movesfaster through denser air because the molecules are closer together in dense air and sound can be more easily passed on.

The molecules of wood are much more compact than those of air so that they reason sound travels faster in wood
