Spiral model is called meta model because it encompasses all other life cycle models. It is called so also because of of the way it comprises of other models of SDLC. Both waterfall and prototype models are used in it.

Answer:

“Spiral model” is called as “meta model” because it comprises of other software development life cycles. Spiral model is a “risk driven process” model and hence risk handling is by default inherited in it. Depending upon the risk factors, it suggests what type of life cycleincremental, waterfall, prototype, etc., needs to be implemented. It is suitable for complex development projects that are high risk prone. Compared to other life cycle models, this is considered to be the most complex one.
