Spring pendulum used in the measurement of time period in space.

Explanation:

1. Time period of spring pendulum

   T=2\pi \sqrt{\frac{m}{k}}     ...1)

   where

  m = mass of oscillating object

  k = value of spring stiffness

2.  Means from equation 1) it is cleat that time period of spring pendulum is depend only on spring stiffness of spring.

3. Because when spring is displaced from mean equilibrium position then   restoring force is spring force.

4. Where spring force depend upon spring stiffness.

5. But in case of simple pendulum restoring force is gravitational force.

6. As we know that in space there are absence of gravitational force. If we use simple pendulum in space there are no restoring force, its means it will not oscillate.
