the tamils felt alienated because as soon as the british left sri lanka, the sinhali's took over the control of the govt. they worked for the benefit of sinhalis and not for the welfare of the tamilians. also for the good of the sinhalis, they introduced three main laws:
1. the sinhalis had better oppurtunity toward education and job facilities.
2. the sinhalis fostered buddism.
