why star twinkle at night

Stars dont twinkle at night. It is from the Earth that they appear to twinkle. When starlight enters the earth's atmosphere then it passes through dense areas and also different temperatures. As a result, the starlight gets deflected or bounces off in different directions giving the appearance of twinkling
