The stars appears very small to us because they are very far from us. So, stars can be considered as a source of point source of light. The continuously changing atmosphere is able to cause variations in the light coming from a point sized star because of the star appears to be twinkling.

On the other hand , planet are appear to be quite large and big to us . So, a planet can be considered as a collection of energy sources of light. The dimming effect produced by the some points sources of light is nullified by the brighter produced by the points sources on the other part. thus, the on whole brightness of planet remains same and hence it does not twinkle.
