Stars Twinkle due to refraction. The light of the star moves through various mediums before reaching on earth. These mediums make star looking like twinkling.

Stars twinkle but planets don't because,
1. Stars produce their own light and planets don't.
2. Stars seem to twinkle because of the refraction of light by the atmosphere of the earth.
