Why strength of concrete increase after adding natural fiber?

the excess of fibre harmed the finishing ability of the concrete.the addition of PET fibres decreased the compressive strength by 30%. performance of concrete on compressive strength with addition of PET fibres .the addition of PET fibres also decreased concrete tensile and flexural strengths.
