Answer:Their is a deep theory inside it called sliding filament theory through which it can be explained in detail.. but I would explain u in short..

When we exercise, then muscles continuously undergoes contraction and relaxation.. and requires large amount of ATP (in the form of energy).. In muscles, anaerobic respiration takes place through which glycogen breaks down to release energy needed for contraction ..so when glycogen breaks down then lactic acid is also formed and when this lactic acid accumulates on muscles ,this leads to cramps... And even we feel excessive pain...
