why sugar does not dissolve in sand but it dissolves in water​

The polar water molecule attract the negative and positive areas on the polar sucrose molecules which makes sucrose dissolved in water.  Sand is insoluble in water .This is because water can't break the bond between silica ( sand/ silicon dioxide) as it does in sugar .And sand is a non-polar molecules.
