Why sulphides ores are converted the oxides, prior to reduction with carbon?

because oxides of metal is easy easy to give pure metal by reduction at compared to the sulphide ore

Obtaining a metal from its oxide is much easier than doing that from a metal sulphide or carbonate. Due to this; metal sulphides and carbonates are first converted to metal oxides during metallurgy.
