Why sulphur does not exist as diatomic in nature?

Because of its larger size, compared with oxygen, the sulphur atom tends not to form double bonds with other sulphur atoms.* (As is the case with the other elements in the same period ... e.g. nitrogen is N2, but white phosphorus is P4). S8 is a cyclic, non-planar (to avoid bond strain) molecule.
*(because the atoms are not close enough for the sideways-overlap of p-orbitals to produce the pi-bond)
