1. The sun which appears reddish in the morning is not actually the sun. It appears reddish.
2. This happens because of the change in refractive index.
3. When the sun is below the horizon, the light rays travel from rarer medium (Vaccum) to denser medium (Atmosphere) and therefore, it keeps on bending towards the normals.
4. In this process, the colour of the sun changes everytime it gets refracted and finally appear in reddish colour.

In the early morning (at time of sunrise),when the sun is near the horizon, the sunlight has to travel the greatest distance through the atmosphere to reach us. During this long journey of sunlight most of the blue colour and shorter wavelength present in it is scattered out and away from our line of sight. So,the light reaching us directly from the rising sun consists mainly of longer wavelength, red colour due to which the sun appears reddish early in the morning.
