Since the sun is the source of light for our solar system, it is not going to create a shadow itself, since it's light is the very light being interrupted by other objects. ... And even if some did, the remainder of the light emitted from the sun would far overpower it, and so no shadow could form.

According to me :-- like any non-transparent object, the Sun would cast a shadow on another object. However, since the Sun emits light itself, it would only result in a true shadow if there were a stronger level of illumination on that object coming from a source behind the sun .
