It is due to refractive of light during the sunset time blue and violet light are not much scattered and red light light is scattered same happens in the morning. Scattering light mostly red is because it has to cover a long distance and have to scatter from larger particles so long wavelength appears.
Opposite happens in the afternoon

Due to refraction of light, All colours scatter but only red Colour reaches our eyes.
