Sun looks red during sunrise and sunset because of refraction of light.
Explanation-
We get light from sun these light is made up of 7 colours (colours we see in rainbow). In these seven colours the wavelength of red colour is more than any other colour hence it don't refract more with respect to other colours.
hence, when light comes it get refracted due to atmospheric layers of earth and as per red colours wavelength it does refract and we see red sun.
Actually when we see the sun it is not perpendicular to earth it is below the earth due to which only red colour comes to us and we red sun.
