They are difficult to bond because they have very stable chemical bonds that are short, strong and inert. These strong, stable, bonds are also why Teflon is slippery to the touch. This same slipperiness is why a 'glue' will not do the job. ... These covalent bonds are permanent and will not degrade over time.
