The region where the impulse moves from one neurone to another is called a synapse....
It consists of three components
•A presynaptic membrane
•A narrow space called synaptic cleft
•A postsynaptic membrane
However the postsynaptic membrane maybe a muscle or a cell membrane in that case the synapse is termed as
*motor end plate*

Answer:
- Very small processes that run along the skeletal muscle cells are produced in the terminal portion of the axon.
- Synapses are specialized structures that run parallel to these processes.
- The term "motor endplate" refers to the specific synapse formed between a spinal motor neuron and a skeletal muscle cell.
- Three characteristics of chemical synapses in the nervous system can be seen in the synapse at the neuromuscular junction.
- First, the presynaptic and postsynaptic membranes are clearly distinguished from one another.
- The term "synaptic cleft" refers to the space between the two.
- The synaptic cleft must be crossed by some sort of intermediary signaling mechanism, according to the space, for information to pass between the presynaptic and postsynaptic neurons.
