caterpillars tracks have large surface area than wheels . larger the surface area ,smaller will be the pressure . hence tanks and bulldozers are fitted with caterpillar tracks.

The main use of tracks compared to wheels is because it allows for a greater surface area to distribute the weight. This causes a much greater reduced ground pressure.
Caterpillar tracks have large surface area than wheels ,larger the surface area, smaller will be the pressure.
Also, these tracks are more able to go to any kind of road or ground due to its more capability of not skidding and tractive nature. They can travel over the ground without slipping and sliding into the ground as much. This added with increased traction from cleats makes them useful for tanks and bulldozers.
