Why Taplow worried about his move ?

Taplow needed to pass in Latin under Mr Crocker Harris. To be removed and promoted to next class he had to attend extra classes with Mr Harris, who was to be retired soon. Taplow was worried because of Mr Harris' reputation of being a strict and unforgiving teacher. He was unsure whether Mr Harris would even promote him to the next class or not.
