Because tellurium of group 16 is a metalloid and found rarely , generally as gold telluride . The high melting point is due to the presence of large and strong inter - molecular spaces as we move down the group the size increases.
Polonium on the other hand is radioactive and exists only for a shorter time so its melting point is less than that of tellurium
