why testicles are not in the alimentary canal​

They lie ventro-laterally below the alimentary canal, close to mid-ventral line on either side of ventral nerve cord. Each testis consists of 4-8 finger like projections/ processes, containing round cells called spermatogonia.

If testes don't descend, this can cause problems such as:

  • Infertility. This is most common when both testes don't descend.
  • Risk for testicular cancer.
  • This risk increases greatly by age 30 or 40.
  • Inguinal hernia.
  • Testicular torsion.
