Extra-abdominal position means that the testes hang outside the abdomen and are not in it. This is important because the sperms in the testes are very susceptible to high temperatures - meaning that they can easily die due to high temperatures like what we have within the abdomen. To ensure the survival and growth of the sperms, testes have been placed outside the body so as to ensure the optimal temperature.

the testes is contained in a sac like stucture called scrotum which maintains the low temperature as the sperms cannot withstand normal body temperature and it will die. it also helps in easy passage of the sperm to pass to vagina of female.
