Why the 2nd ionisation energy of cu is higher than of ni?

The second ionization energies of Cu and Cr are sufficiently high. These are much higher than the first ionization energies of Cu and Cr. The reason for such high ionization energy is that the 1st electron from their outermost shell has already been removed. Now both of them have attained a stable noble gas state.
